JustWorld is proud to have been selected by the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre in Portugal to form a partnership to help more than 6,000 children at JustWorld partner projects around the world. This partnership will kick-off during the Vilamoura Champions Tour with exciting activities planned.
Hosting two of the biggest show jumping events in the international calendar, this beautiful complex is known as one of the best equestrian facilities in Europe. With beaches and an amazing golf course only a few kilometers away, it is also one of the most appealing centers today, attracting top international riders from all over the world every year.
What makes this show unique, however, is the family vibe felt throughout the tour from grooms to riders to visitors. That this event is family-run should come as no surprise. The Moura family, who organizes this tour, has deep roots in the equestrian sport, having produced four generations of show jumpers combined with years of experience in show jumping event organization.
Down from this line of the Moura family is Bernardo, who in the past few years has played a distinctive part in the organization of the tour. He explains that he first became familiar with JustWorld a few years ago while at a showjumping competition. “Since then I have always followed their work and it is impressive how JustWorld has developed so far and how many people are being helped. As a show organizer, I see great potential in our event and it can be an important vehicle to help JustWorld in their battle to provide a better life to children around the world.”
Jessica Newman, founder and executive director of JustWorld International, is equally excited. “We are so happy that Vilamoura is becoming part of our JustWorld family and that Bernardo is taking such ownership of developing and integrating JustWorld initiatives at his show. He is enthusiastic and passionate about JustWorld’s mission and helping the kids at our projects. We can’t wait to initiate this partnership as we share a common vision of developing a long-term impactful relationship.”
To all who plan on attending the Vilamoura Champions Tour, keep your eyes peeled for updates in preparation for this new partnership. Bernardo optimistically shared, “This is not a one-year partnership; this will be a partnership looking to the future and I can’t wait to start it!”
