Jessica Newman is the Founder of JustWorld International and President of the Board of Directors. After a successful career as an equestrian athlete, she began working in the nonprofit sector in 1999. In late 2002, she and co-founder Hilary Betaille incorporated JustWorld International. Through Jessica’s network in the equestrian world, other riders began to see that together, everyone can work toward the common goal of breaking the cycle of poverty. Sixteen years later, JustWorld is celebrating the success and impact of the organization that is now serving more than 7,000 children at its powerful programs.
Jessica’s humanitarian experience includes establishing the Honduras branch of the Trickle Up Program; actively participating in the Friends World Experiential Education Program in Costa Rica and Nicaragua; volunteering at the “Crisis Center” for street children in Casa Alianza, Honduras; and collaborating on policy advocacy at Oxfam America. Jessica holds a BA in International Affairs from the American University of Paris.
