Canadas Evi Strasser Sells Two Top Dressage Mounts
February 22, 2006
Ste-Adele, Quebec - Canadian Olympian Evi Strasser has sold
two of her top dressage mounts, Pryme Tyme and Romance Tyme,
to American competitor Mariane Nielsen.
Strasser competed Pryme Tyme, a bay Oldenburg gelding by Aletto,
with great success at the Grand Prix level, contesting the Canadian
League World Cup Final at Torontos Royal Agricultural Winter
Fair in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Romance Tyme, an attractive and
athletic chestnut Oldenburg stallion by Rotspon, earned the
FEI Five-Year-Old Reserve Champion title at the Canadian Young
Horse Finals held in conjunction with CDI3* Ottawa, ON, in August
of 2005.
Strasser first met Nielsen five years ago in Toronto, ON, where
they were both showing and has since aided in her training.
Nielsen, who is based in Aspen, CO, and spends her winters in
Florida, also receives help from legendary American Olympian
Robert Dover.

When Mariane came to my place in Canada to try horses, she
sat on Romance Tyme and we instantly knew that he was the horse
for her, recalls Strasser, who operates Good Tyme Stables in
Ste-Adele, QC, and is one of Canadas largest importers of quality
dressage horses. Mariane is a talented rider, and the goal is
for her to have Pryme Tyme as a schoolmaster, competing at the
Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire levels this year and then
trying Grand Prix next year. With Romance Tyme, she will show
him in the FEI Six-Year-Old classes this year and then move
up to Prix St. Georges a year or two later.
Despite being a licensed stallion, Romance Tyme is just a dream
he is so straightforward and easy to train, continued Strasser,
who will coach Nielsen as scheduling allows. I am confident
in sending them off alone and just reviewing their training
every once in a while because if she just follows the basics
properly with this horse, he will carry her to the top levels.
It was a very difficult decision to let him go, but I have known
Mariane for so long, and I know how well she treats her horses.
And Pryme Tyme is such a good horse. He knows his job and has
done it all, successfully competing at the Grand Prix level
with me and helping the Canada East Team to win the Silver Medal
at the 2004 North American Young Riders Championship.
Despite losing Pryme Tyme and Romance Tyme from her stable,
Strasser will continue to work towards her goal of qualifying
for the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, GER, with Quantum
Tyme, an 11-year-old chestnut gelding by Quattro that she has
trained since purchasing him at auction as a three-year-old.
After helping Canada win the Team Silver Medal at the 2003 Pan
American Games, Strasser and Quantum Tyme were the first alternates
for the 2004 Olympic Games and represented Canada at the 2005
World Cup Final in Las Vegas.
In addition, Strasser is aiming Foto Tyme, her Westphalian
gelding by Florestan I, towards the 2007 Pan American Games
in Rio de Janeiro, BRA. In 2004, the pair enjoyed a top ten
finish in the Six-Year-Old Division at the World Breeding Championship
in Verden, GER. Strasser and Quantum Tyme produced the best
Canadian finish to date in this event, placing fourth in the
Five-Year-Old Division when the 2000 World Breeding Championship
was held in Arnhem, NED.
