Why Jump for a Just World?
"I had originally been skeptical that the small sum of money I won at horse shows could make any kind of substantial difference in fighting poverty around the world but, after spending time with the children in Honduras, I realized that even the smallest amount of money really does make a difference in people's lives," said Speiser of the life-altering experience.
In September of 2004, Jessica Speiser enjoyed a huge victory by winning Region 2 of the ASPCA Maclay Championship riding Simplicity. At the ASPCA Maclay Final, where more than 100 riders compete, Jessica was among the top 74 riders called back to compete on the flat. She again made the cut when 15 riders were called back for the second round, and was placed seventh overall.
In 2005, in her final year of eligibility, Jessica ended her junior career in style by placing third overall in the ASPCA Maclay Final.
In her first year out of the junior ranks, Jessica earned an Amateur-Owner Hunter Championship on the highly competitive Winter Equestrian Festival circuit riding her chestnut mare, Sangria, purchased in 2005.
