Why Jump for a Just World?
"Jessica told me about it, explained what the cause was, and I thought it was a great idea," says Nick, who always wears the signature JustWorld jacket when he enters the show ring. "I love wearing the jacket. It shows that I am a part of JustWorld and that I support the cause. When I first started wearing it, a lot of people asked me about it, but JustWorld has become so well known around the globe that when I went to Spruce Meadows this summer and wore it, there were a lot of Europeans there and they already knew what JustWorld was."
“I think by being a part of JustWorld activities or by going on a trip, it can change a part of you because you know you are helping these children,” explains Nick. “By getting people involved and raising awareness, people who have nothing will benefit. Through my contribute of funds and donation of time, JustWorld will be able to give these kids an education and life skills which will, hopefully, help them rise out of poverty.”
Despite only being in the saddle for two years, Nick Dello Joio has already made a name for himself in the jumper ring. A JustWorld International junior ambassador, Nick was the Children’s Modified Circuit Champion at the 2005 Winter Equestrian Festival and went on to enjoy several victories at the Kentucky Horse Show as well as at the prestigious Spruce Meadows tournaments in Alberta, Canada.
A graduate of Saint Andrews School, Nick began attending Boston's Suffolk University in the fall of 2007 where he studies business management. When he isn’t riding, he enjoys surfing, golfing and playing tennis. He enjoys strong support from his mother, Jeanie, and his father, 1992 Olympic Bronze Medallist, Norman. His older sister, Daniela, has also gotten involved with JustWorld International - the University of Miami student began working as an intern in the fall of 2007.
