Why Jump for a Just World?
“I have been very fortunate in every aspect of my life, and there are others both young and old around the world who are not as fortunate,” said Kelsey who proudly wears the JustWorld colors not only to support the cause, but also to draw attention to the goals of the organization. She is also planning to use her experience as a JustWorld Ambassador to “develop her own character, help less fortunate individuals and learn more about other cultures.”
Kelsey was introduced to JustWorld International several years ago when her coach, Laura Bowery, encouraged her to compete at the Training Show and Fundraiser held at Belle Herbe Farm in Wellington, Florida.
As best child rider at Old Salem in 2003, Kelsey has continued to experience success as a hunter, jumper and equitation rider. During the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, she enjoyed two top five finishes in the Five-Year-Old Young Horse classes riding her own Gama Serena. During the 2007 Hampton Classic Horse Show, Kelsey and her equitation partner Mareshall were the runner-ups in the prestigious ASPCA Maclay class.
Kelsey has the greatest respect for her coach and has developed her horsemanship skills while acting as a working student for Bowery. Each year, they travel together to many top international horse shows. Kelsey attributes her success to the positive example her coach has set. “With Laura I have learned not only how to be a better rider and horsewoman but also how to be responsible,” she says.
