Why Jump for a Just World?
"I believe in the organization's mission and I am impressed with what it has accomplished in such a short time," said the three-time Olympian.
Born in the United States, Rutherford Latham has made a name for himself as a member of the Spanish show jumping team. First competing in eventing and dressage at the age of 16, Rutherford, or Rafi as his friends know him, is now a three-time Olympian, having competed in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Sydney. In fact, his most memorable moment in the sport came when the Spanish enjoyed a fifth place finish at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
Although he rode in his first international competition in 1971, in Madrid no less, as an American, he switched his citizenship in 1982, winning his first international class in his newly adopted country of Spain, at Lisbon.
Fluent in Spanish and English and speaking some French, Rafi divides his time between his home in Madrid, Spain, and Normandy, France, where he trains horses.
