Olivier Guillon is a new arrival on the French scene. Having enjoyed a successful career as a Young Rider, Olivier is now making a name for himself as a professional grand prix competitor.
A love of horses was introduced early to Olivier as his parents owned and operated a Pony Club. He first began competing in show jumping at the age of ten, and went to his first international competition at the tender age of 14. One of his most memorable riding achievements came at the 1993 European Young Riders’ Championship when he won the Individual Gold Medal. What was more important to Olivier than winning the Gold was that the runner-up was none other than Rodrigo Pessoa, who would go on to become a three-time winner of the World Cup Final as well as Olympic Gold Medallist.
Since graduating to the ‘senior’ ranks of competition, Olivier has enjoyed great success, including a win in the Grand Prix in Jerez, Spain, in 2000. Currently partnered with Ionesco de Brekka, a son of the 2002 team World Championship champion horse, Dollar du Maurier, Olivier has been gaining international experience by representing France in Nations' Cup competition, and was the highest placed French rider at the 2007 European Championships, finishing seventh overall. One month later, Ionesco de Brekka scored his first Grand Prix victory by winning the prestigious €180,000 R.I.D.E. Grand Prix at CSI5* Deauville, France.
Sponsored by Sony Ericsson, Oliver makes his home in Breuilpont, France. When he is not riding, Olivier enjoys tennis and water sports, such as sailing. On September 17, 2005, Olivier and his wife, Monika, celebrated the birth of their daughter. Salome Lina Guillon will carry the double nationality of her parents, French and Brazilian.
