Why Jump for a Just World?
“I'm interested in getting involved with JustWorld because I truly believe in the nature of the effort,” noted Federico. “I believe it’s an opportunity to give back, in some small way, for all the great things that I've been lucky enough to receive. I am very interested in helping the project not just personally, but also through our shows and venue.”
Federico Fernandez began competing at the age of six and says he has felt a passion for horses all of his life. His competitive career has spanned over a decade, and a sixth place finish in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the 1995 Spruce Meadows Tournament in Calgary, Canada, and a third place finish in the Grand Prix event at CSI-A Madrid rank among his career highlights.
At the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain, Federico placed in the top 15 individually riding his beloved partner, Bohemio. The following year at the Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic, Federico placed fifth individually and was a member of the Silver Medal Team, qualifying Mexico for a berth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, where he again represented his country for the third consecutive year.
Federico is a graduate of the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City where he studied Business Administration. Married to Maribel Salazar with two sons and a daughter, he currently lives in Huixquilucan de Mexico. In addition to his equestrian pursuits, Federico also enjoys tennis and going to the movies.
