American competitor Derek Braun enjoyed a successful career as a junior training under Christina Schlusemeyer. He now works with decorated United States Equestrian Team member, Debbie Stephens.
Derek had been partnered with Jetstar du Lozon for nine months, having purchased him in the summer of 2006 in Germany, before placing second in the $50,000 Commonwealth Grand Prix at the CSI3* Kentucky Spring Classic in Kentucky. The pair was one of only three horse-rider combinations to advance to the jump-off where they finished second to American Olympian Lauren Hough. Derek’s other horse is the selle francais gelding, Quick, who he has been riding since 2004.
Derek is the owner and trainer at Split Rock Farm in Wellington, Florida.
