Mary
Ann Simonds, MA is a behavioral ecologist and holistic health
educator and has been riding and learning from horses for over
35 years. She grew up in California showing jumpers and branched
into a variety of equestrian disciplines from racing to dressage.
Focused on learning as much as possible about horses, Mary Ann
traveled to Wyoming to study wild horses earning her B.S. degree
in Wildlife Biology and Range Management from the University of
Wyoming. Later, she earned her Masters degree in Consciousness
Studies with an emphasis on Human-Animal Interaction & Health
and has been researching cognition, behavior, and health in horses
and other animals for over 25 years.
Mary Ann served on the 1990-1992 U.S. Wild Horse & Burro Advisory
Board as a wildlife biologist advising on wild horse management.
She also consults as an "expert witness" in horse behavior cases.
Operating EQUINES LTD, a horse brokerage firm for over 10 years
in California and founded the Whole Horse Institute for horse
education in 1985. Her research in preventative therapy products
has lead her to develop the "Natural Vibrations" line of products
for Toklat Originals including magnetic therapy and natural stress
management remedies. Mary Ann lives at Wisdom Stone Farm, in Vancouver,
