It’s Fashion Week in Wellington!

The second annual ‘STRUT! Fashion for a Just World’ Fashion Show will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Wellington Club on the grounds of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL following the $50,000 Vita Flex Match Race showjumping competition. The fashion show, which drew a crowd of more than 250 spectators last year, will feature the industry’s biggest names in both fashion and competition as they come together to benefit JustWorld International.

JustWorld’s longtime partner Horseware Ireland is returning as presenting sponsor for a second year. Proceeds from last year’s fashion show helped JustWorld to fund the building of a new school at JustWorld’s project site, Stung Mean Chey, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Additional event sponsors include Dazzle Creative Events, Generations: A Hair Salon and SportFot Photography.

Guests will be treated to stylish equestrian fashions from Horseware’s popular Pessoa Collection along with chic ensembles from Le Fash, Eleganté Polo of Palm Beach, Asmar Equestrian, Grand Prix, GPA, Pikeur, Konigs, Goode Rider, the WEF Boutique, Der Dau, Skiffington LLC, Sofie Belgium Boutique, Ariat International and Zest. Guests will also have the exciting opportunity to enter for a chance to win a Pessoa by Horseware look straight from the runway. Tickets for the drawing will be available to purchase for $10 at the door.

The models slated to walk the runway include Alexa Adelson, Mike Azarro, Kevin Babington, Erynn Ballard, Andrew Bourns, Daniel Bluman, Angela Covert-Lawrence, Kamini Chinloy, Marlee Dichter, Nick Dello Joio, Tatiana Dzavik, Nicola FitzGibbon, Aimee Mc Clenahan, McKahla Onetto, Andres Rodriguez, Caroline Roffman, Louise Serio, Nicole Simpon, Sophie Simpson, Daniel Zetterman, Caitlin Ziegler, Amanda Derbyshire, Alex Skiffington and Blythe Marano.

The doors at The Wellington Club open at 8 pm and the show will start at 9:30 pm. Guests will enjoy a premium open bar and a great view of the Vita Flex Match Race. 

JustWorld Horseless Horse Show Returns to WEF

One of the most entertaining charity events of the season returns to the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, during the sixth week of competition.  The seventh annual JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show will take place at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, in the DeNemethy Arena.

Featuring ‘courses’ set by FEI course designer and JustWorld Technical Ambassador Anthony D’Ambrosio, children of all ages will enjoy competing on foot over the mini-jumps.  As always, the Puissance high jump competition will be featured, along with the Whole Foods Market Children’s Jumpers, the Horseware Ireland Grand Prix, Short Stirrup Jumpers, and the popular Triple Crown Team Relay Race.  Entries are $15 per class, and ribbons and prizes will be awarded.

Last year, a total of 129 entries participated in the Horseless Horse Show, raising $7,475 for JustWorld International’s project sites in Brazil, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Honduras.

A big thank you goes out to the Thunderbird Show Park team for raising more than $11,000 over the course of their two week summer show series! Various events organized to benefit JustWorld included the Horseless Horse Show, the Family Extravangaza Equitation Class, the Groom's Class, various calcuttas, a silent auction, hot dog sales, and the sales of Julia Tops' handmade cell phone charms and covers.

Donation from the Thunderbird Horse Park Summer Series will go directly towards funding theJustWorld International Cambodia Rice for Families Project at Stung Mein Chey. Each of Stung Mean Chey child's family receives 5kg of rice each month, thus reducing the need to send children to gather food scraps or to earn money picking garbage in the nearby dump.

JustWorld is honored to have been such a huge part of the 2011 Thunderbird Summer series and would especially like to thank the Tidball and Zeidler Families for all their hard work and dedication to making a difference in the lives of the children in our projects. While the Hampton Classic Horse Show has been delayed to an August 31 start, the JustWorld Horseless Horse Show will go on as planned!  You won't want to miss this event!  Taking place in the Grand Prix arena on Friday, September 2 during the Exhibitor's Party and Silent Auction to benefit JustWorld International, have fun competing, watching, betting – maybe even all of the above – for a great cause!

"Imagine."  Let's take a minute to think about this powerful word.  It suggests ideas and dreams for the future. It brings hope that what can be imagined, can be achieved.  I'm happy to say that with our donors' help, we have achieved what was once just an idea, hope, and dream for thousands of children.

 Allow me to introduce you to some of the children at the JustWorld/People's Improvement Organization (PIO) school at Stung Mean Chey, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  Han, Chhun, Vor, and Keo shared with me their dreams to someday become teachers, photographers, and nurses.  Their reality, however, was much different. They were barefoot, sick, and hungry – scavenging a garbage dump for food and any materials that could be sold, earning a few pennies a day and having no means to a better life. 

As you imagine how life was for these children, realize that in less than a decade, with the help from JustWorld supporters like you, we have been able to provide free education, free meals, and free medical care to more than 3,000 children at JustWorld projects in Honduras, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Brazil. We've given these children the ability to imagine a better life, filled with hope and sucess for the future.
