BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Jessica Newman is the Founder and Executive Director of JustWorld International. She began working in the non-profit sector in 1999. Her humanitarian experience includes establishing the Honduras branch of the Trickle Up Program; actively participating in the Friends World Experiential Education Program in Costa Rica and Nicaragua; volunteering at the 'Crisis Center' for street children in Casa Alianza, Honduras; and collaborating on policy advocacy at Oxfam America. Ms. Newman holds a B.A. in International Affairs from The American University of Paris. 
Michael Lawrence holds a B.A. in Economics from Carlton University in Ottawa, Ontario, a diploma in Marketing and International Business from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a diploma in Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics. In addition to his many academic achievements, he has been practicing equine dentistry since 1992 and is a charter member of the International Association of Equine Dentistry. Mr. Lawrence is co-owner of the show stable, Eastwood Equine Inc., with his wife Angela Covert-Lawrence, one of Canada's top female rider and trainers. He also is the manager of the Pepiniere and St. Lazare horse shows. Mr. Lawrence has been actively involved in JustWorld International since its founding.
Leopoldo Palacios is a horse sport personality easily recognized around the world An FEI ‘O’ course designer, Leopoldo was set the tracks at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and will be the co-course designer for the 2008 Olympic Games with Steve Stephens. He is only the second person to have the distinction of designing at two Olympics. As a course designer, Leopoldo has officiated at international competitions in more than 35 countries including Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia to name but a few. An architect by trade, Leopoldo was the course designer at the 1997 World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, the 1991 and 1995 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires and Havana respectively. At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, he acted as Technical Delegate, just as he had at 2005 World Cup Final in Las Vegas. A former competitor himself, Leopoldo competed nationally and internationally from 1956 until the 1980’s. In 1971 and 72, he was named Venezuela’s ‘Rider of the Year’. In 1976, he began working as a course designer and, in 1993, earned his Official International Course Designer status from the FEI, the highest level of achievement.
Rhonda Rioux is the Director of Cultural Affairs for the city of Québec since 2005. From 1996 to 2005 she was General Manager of Optimum Public Relations, a division of Cossette Communications - Canada's largest advertising agency. Her over 20 years' experience in communications and public relations has been applied to both the public and private sectors as well as to international events in the equestrian community. She founded and managed the Québec City Horse Show, a world cup qualifier presented on the Plains of Abraham, from 1993 to 2002. Very involved in her community, Rhonda sat on over 15 Boards of Administration of several sectors of activities. She has been collaborating with JustWorld International since its early stages and additionally chairs the Board of Advisors of Jump for a Just World. She was honored in 2003 as one the top fifty professional women in Québec City by the Journal Économique de Québec.
Michael J. Kluger is a founding partner of Altaris Capital Partners, a healthcare private equity investment firm with $800 million of capital under management. Prior to founding Altaris, Mr. Kluger held various positions in Merrill Lynch’s private equity and investment banking groups. Mr. Kluger received a B.A. in History from Trinity College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. Mr. Kluger is currently a board member of Brim Healthcare, Classic Industries, Healthcare Waste Solutions, Intermed-Penlon, M2S, Paragon Medical, Precyse Solutions and U.S. HealthWorks. In addition, Mr. Kluger is or has been a member of the board of directors of several publicly traded companies, including Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (NASDAQ), Foundation Health Corporation (NYSE), Monaco Coach Corporation (NYSE) and NFO Research (NYSE). Mr. Kluger is also on the Board of Shakespeare & Co., Lenox, MA.
